Everything you need to know about Sonaire, from how our AI-composed music works to licensing, plans, and technical setup.
Sonaire is a B2B service that provides AI-composed ambient music for commercial spaces — including retail stores, hotels, restaurants, spas, and corporate offices. Our music is delivered through a local buffer system to your locations, requiring no streaming and ensuring uninterrupted playback.
Sonaire is designed exclusively for businesses. Our service is tailored for commercial venues that need background music — from single-location restaurants to multi-location retail chains and hotel groups with multiple zones.
Traditional providers license existing music from human composers, which requires performance rights organization (PRO) fees and collecting society obligations. Sonaire's music is composed entirely by AI with no human authorship, which under current EU legislation means no PRO licensing is required. Additionally, our music can be customized to match your brand's sonic identity.
Our music is composed by artificial intelligence systems that create original compositions based on parameters such as mood, tempo, genre, and brand characteristics. Each track is generated specifically for commercial ambient use — it is not sampled, remixed, or derived from existing recordings.
Yes, on Brand and Enterprise plans. We work with you to create a Sonic Profile that captures your brand's identity — including mood, energy, cultural references, and atmosphere. The AI then generates music aligned with this profile. Essential plan clients have access to curated AI radio channels.
The quality of AI-composed ambient music has advanced significantly. For commercial background music — where the goal is to create atmosphere rather than foreground listening — AI-composed tracks deliver consistent, high-quality results. The gap in perceived quality between AI-composed and human-composed commercial background music continues to narrow.
Under current EU and Italian legislation, AI-generated music without human creative authorship does not fall within the mandate of collecting societies. This means no PRO licensing fees are required for the use of Sonaire-generated music within the scope of your subscription. This position is based on the current legislative framework, which Sonaire actively monitors for any changes.
Your subscription grants you commercial usage rights to the AI-generated music at your designated locations for the purpose of ambient commercial playback. These are non-exclusive, non-transferable usage rights as defined in the service agreement. The rights do not include redistribution, resale, or use as a standalone product.
The legal and regulatory framework governing AI-generated content is evolving. Sonaire actively monitors legislative changes, regulatory guidance, and judicial decisions across all markets where we operate. If any material change affects your obligations, we will notify you promptly. Our Terms of Service include provisions for this scenario.
Sonaire conducts reasonable due diligence on its technology providers, including reviewing their terms of service, indemnification provisions, and publicly available information regarding their training data practices. Our B2B agreements with technology providers include intellectual property indemnification clauses. For full details on our liability and indemnification structure, please refer to our Terms of Service.
No. Nothing in our communications, website, or service agreements constitutes legal advice. We provide information about the current legislative position regarding AI-generated music, but we encourage all clients to seek independent legal counsel regarding the use of AI-generated music in their specific jurisdiction and business context.
We offer three plans: Essential (per-location subscription with curated AI radio channels), Brand (base fee plus per-location fee, up to 100 locations, with full brand customization), and Enterprise (base fee plus per-location fee, unlimited locations, with dedicated support and API access). Contact us for detailed pricing.
For hotels and venues with multiple distinct zones (lobby, restaurant, spa, corridors, etc.), each zone counts as a separate location. This applies to Brand and Enterprise plans. On the Essential plan, each zone requires its own per-location subscription.
Essential provides access to our curated AI radio channels — pre-composed playlists suited for different commercial environments. Brand and Enterprise plans unlock full customization: a bespoke Sonic Profile, brand-specific music generation, multi-location management, and dedicated support. Enterprise additionally offers unlimited locations, API access, and enhanced IP indemnification.
Sonaire uses a local buffer architecture. Music is pre-loaded onto a local device at each location, ensuring uninterrupted playback regardless of internet connectivity. The buffer is periodically updated with fresh content when connectivity is available.
You need a standard audio playback system at your location (speakers and amplifier). Sonaire provides the local buffer device that connects to your existing audio infrastructure. Internet connectivity is required for periodic content updates but not for continuous playback.
Your music continues playing without interruption. The local buffer stores enough content for extended offline periods. When connectivity is restored, the buffer automatically syncs with new content.
Sonaire's music is composed entirely by artificial intelligence with no human authorship. Under current EU legislation, AI-generated works without human creative contribution do not fall under collecting society mandates. Sonaire continuously monitors the evolving regulatory landscape to ensure compliance. Nothing on this page constitutes legal advice. Terms of service apply.
